Hey Jeep fam, I’m getting ready for a road trip and need some advice. I’m packing up my 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee with a bunch of gear—camping stuff, coolers, bags, you name it—and I’m starting to wonder how much weight I can actually put in the trunk without overloading it. I definitely don’t want to push it too far and mess something up!
From what I’ve read, the Grand Cherokee’s payload capacity varies a bit depending on the model and engine, but for most 2018 versions, it’s around 1,180 to 1,350 pounds. That includes passengers, cargo, and anything else you're carrying. As for the cargo capacity, the trunk can hold quite a bit, but I’m not sure exactly how much weight that translates to when fully loaded.
