Title: What’s the cost to replace the valve cover gasket on a Jeep Grand Cherokee?
Threaded Mode
#1
Hey everyone, I’ve got a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the 3.6L V6, and it’s leaking oil pretty badly. I’m sure it’s the valve cover gasket because I can see oil pooling around the edges, and I’m starting to smell burning oil when the engine heats up.

I’m debating whether to tackle this myself or take it to a mechanic. I’ve done some DIY stuff like oil changes and brake pads, but I’ve never replaced a valve cover gasket. Has anyone done this on their own? Is it something I can handle with basic tools, or is it tricky on the 3.6L V6?

I’ve heard the gasket itself is cheap, maybe $20-$30, but labor at a shop could run anywhere from $200 to $500. For those who had it done, what did you pay? And if you did it yourself, how tough was it? Any advice on brands—OEM vs. aftermarket gaskets? I want to save money but don’t want to mess it up.
